Background Checks through Nannies Galore

Nannies Galore is committed to bringing our families the best background check in the industry through Acxiom. 

Acxiom conducts 100% in-person/real-time searches to provide the most comprehensive, up-to-date information available.  To avoid the risk of inaccuracy, there is no third-party handling. 

We offer our caregivers the best background check available; in other words, there is no option to purchase a "cheaper" package.  Nannies Galore has a minimum standard that nannies and babysitters must adhere to when providing a background check.

What does Acxiom check?

• The Social Security Number trace offers a name match to the SSN given, identifies addresses associated with that SSN.  
• The County Criminal searches are selected from the addresses found on the trace.  The searches include going to the specific county court house identified to search for records that match the applicants name, and DOB.
• National Criminal Axcess Search is a repository search that includes county records from all across the country.  This is used to help identify records that may exist in non-residential counties.
• Sexual Offender Registry is a nation wide search of all state sexual offenders registries.

Nannies Galore uses a scoring system when associating a background check with a caregiver.  What this means:  If a caregiver has purchased a background check, their score will be provided on their profile.  It will say "green", "yellow" or "red". 

 What Do the Colors Mean?

Green: 

• No record of a felony or a misdemeanor.  
• No sex offender record.
• May have minor traffic infractions, excluding the following:  driving without a driver license, or driving with a suspended, revoked or cancelled driver license within one year. Also excluded - fleeing police, hit and run and reckless driving within one year.  

Yellow: 

•  Arrest for a felony or misdemeanor, with no conviction. 
•  Arrest for misdemeanor child abduction, kidnapping and attempted kidnapping, with no conviction.    
•  Misdemeanor theft or property crime.  
•  Arrest while being under the influence of a controlled substance (not while driving). 
•  Arrest for a sex crime with no conviction. 

 Red:

• Conviction of a felony or a misdemeanor, no matter how many years.  
• All registered sex offenders.
• If arrested for a violent felony or misdemeanor, but not convicted.
• Any child abduction, kidnapping or attempted kidnapping. 
• Any contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
• Any unlawful sale of alcohol to a minor.
• Any driving while impaired of under the influence of drugs or alcohol, within last 3 years.
• Any under age drinking and driving within last 3 years.
• Any purchase of alcoholic beverages for a minor.
• Any unlawful sale of tobacco to a minor.
• Any conviction of any sex crime; felony or misdemeanor.  

 Special Notes:

• Any crime related to sex or children that has been dismissed, discharged, dropped, declined, sealed, abandoned, expunged, etc. will be categorized as YELLOW as a caution. 
• Any in or out of state warrants, pending or active cases, etc, will be scored according to the crime classification upon original arrest (felony or misdemeanor). 
• Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, background checks can only stay in a database for 90 days. After this period, Nannies Galore will remove the background score from a nanny profile.
